Repeat Prescriptions
Our practice will no longer accept prescription requests over the telephone for safety reasons.
How To Order Your Repeat Prescription
Via the NHS App
Prescriptions in your NHS App: NHS App help and support. Available 24/7
If you see a message ‘No repeat prescriptions available to order’ on your NHS app, this is NOT a technical issue.
Please do not worry, we have NOT removed your list of repeat medications. This can mean:
- It’s too early to order.
- You need a medicine review.
- You have a repeat dispensing prescription (eRD) More information below.
- Previously issued as acute prescription (not on repeat).
Please contact the surgery to put your requests in manually.
Via SystmOnline
The easiest way to order your prescription is by using our online services.
Via Anima
Available during practice opening hours. You can now use Anima to request repeat prescriptions without needing an NHS App account. This makes it easier for more patients to access online services quickly and securely.
Using the Anima Screen in Reception
Located on the left-hand side of the reception counter when facing the front desk, near the prescription box
In Person
Complete an order form and place it in the prescription box in the main waiting area
By Post
Send a written request to the surgery
Important
Please list each item you require individually. We will not accept requests such as “all medications” or “everything on repeat”. This is to ensure you receive the correct medication and to help reduce unnecessary prescriptions, which cost the NHS millions of pounds each year.
Sedative prescribing for fear of flying
Sedatives are not recommended for fear of flying. The reasons for this can be understood in our policy.
Exceptions For Telephone Requests
In exceptional circumstances, such as for patients who are terminally ill, housebound or physically incapacitated and unable to use the other ordering methods, telephone requests will still be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
Electronic Repeat Dispensing (eRD)
If your medication is stable, you may be eligible for Electronic Repeat Dispensing. This allows a batch of prescriptions, typically covering 6 or 12 months, to be issued in advance and sent directly to your nominated pharmacy for monthly collection. This means you will not need to re-order until the final issue is due.
Please Plan Ahead
Our prescription processing time is 3 working days (excluding weekends and bank holidays).
However, please remember:
- Your pharmacy may need up to 72 hours to dispense your medication, depending on their workload.
- Urgent requests for routine medication cannot be accommodated within 72 hours unless there are exceptional circumstances.
