Trainee GP Dr Al-Imran Khan has enjoyed his placement at Yaxley

He moved into General Practice as it offers the opportunity to be a ‘generalist’ while forging more longer-term links with patients than hospital work allows.

He said:

‘I am a generalist at heart as I like doing lots of different things, so I wanted something similar, but a better work/life balance than A&E. Going into General Practice was a good fit for my skills and interests. I am people orientated and find the work very interesting. I came to Yaxley because I had heard excellent things about the practice, and it has been an enjoyable experience.’

‘Everyone in the team has been very supportive. We are always learning something new every day. My supervisor is Dr Bhatia, and I have been doing some minor surgery with him; Dr Gela, my education supervisor, has also given me invaluable insight into the workings of general practice. As doctors, we have to update ourselves and learn as things change continually. I enjoy chatting with patients and hope to enhance their experience by adding the expertise I have gained over the years.’
