Retirement Annoucement
After many years of dedicated service, we are sharing the news that Dr Withers will be retiring from Lakeside Healthcare at Yaxley.
Dr Withers’ medical career began in 1983, and he first joined the practice in 1986, then known as Yaxley Group Practice, as a final-year GP trainee. He became a Partner in October 1988 and has been a constant and valued presence ever since.
Throughout his career, Dr Withers has been known for his innovative and proactive approach to general practice.
He was instrumental in the early development of out-of-hours GP services in Peterborough (PDIC), helping to shape how care is delivered to patients beyond the traditional working day.
Alongside his work as a GP partner, he played a key leadership role in the development of GP-led Practice Based Commissioning locally, including leading Borderline Practice Based Commissioning Group.
In addition to his work within the practice, Dr Withers contributed more widely to public service, including supporting local police services and the wider healthcare community.
Reflecting on his career, Dr Withers shared how fortunate he has felt to spend so many years doing a job he truly enjoyed, supported by colleagues across the whole team. He expressed his sincere thanks to everyone he has worked alongside over the years for helping to “keep the show on the road.”
We know many patients and colleagues will have their own memories of Dr Withers’ care, kindness, and dedication to the community.
We would like to thank him for his remarkable contribution over the past four decades and wish him a very happy and well-deserved retirement.
With our thanks and very best wishes,
All at Lakeside Healthcare at Yaxley
