Information about the NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS)
From Monday 15 November our clinical team will be able to refer patients directly to community pharmacists for treatment of minor illnesses and medication queries.
A two year pilot scheme, where pharmacy referrals were made by NHS 111, proved so effective that GP practices are now being allowed to refer patients if appropriate.
Patient feedback has said it is a convenient and timesaving way of accessing healthcare and 94% of pharmacies are offering the service.
Practice Manager Aija Selby said: ‘This is a tried and tested scheme but I’d like to reassure patients that if they need to see a GP they will still be offered a consultation if clinically necessary.’
