Local support events for carers

South Peterborough Primary Care Network is promoting two local events for carers, with help and healthcare advice aimed specifically for them and their situation.

The first one at Castor Lodge, will feature a special Dementia Bus which gives people the opportunity to experience what living with dementia could be like.

The events take place on:

  • Tuesday 26 May at Castor Lodge Care Home PE5 7BD
  • Tuesday 9 June at The George Alcock Centre PE2 8QS
  • Both sessions take place from 10am to 3pm

Community and professional organisations will be on hand and it will also be an opportunity for people to meet the Primary Care Network’s Personalised Care Team. Dawn Farey, the Team Lead, said: ‘We will be sending out invitations to people who are on our system, but anyone who is registered at one of our surgeries and is a carer, is very welcome to attend.

‘As well as local and national organisations being there, our Wellbeing Team, of social prescribers, care coordinators and health and wellbeing coaches will be attending to talk to carers about the help they can offer.’

The virtual dementia bus at the Castor is a unique, sensory-based tour that offers a brief but powerful opportunity to understand some of the challenges people living with dementia may face in their daily lives.

To book your free experience on the dementia bus please call Morgan Hicks on 01733 731 455.
