COVID-19 Vaccine
What to expect at your Covid-19 vaccine appointment
If you have booked an appointment for your Covid-19 vaccination at the Practice, please read the following information carefully:
- Please cancel your appointment if you have tested positive for Covid-19 or not fully recovered prior to your appointment date (this could take approximately 2 weeks - recent change in guidance).
- Do not arrive before your appointment time to avoid creating a queue, as we are vaccinating several hundred patients per clinic.
- Please wear clothing with loose-fitting sleeves.
- When you arrive at the Practice, please check in at our temporary Reception desk located opposite the front entrance and collect a card (this is important, as without a card we will be unable to vaccinate you).
- If you are disabled and/or unable to walk to the vaccination room, please inform the Receptionist on duty and you will be directed to another vaccinator closer by.
- Whilst waiting, please remove any outer clothing and roll up your sleeves – preferably of your left arm.
When you reach the vaccination room, your card will be collected, and you will be directed to a vaccinator who will ask you some questions about your health to ensure it is safe for you to receive the vaccine:
- Have you had Covid-19 in the last 2 weeks and have you recovered fully?
- Do you have a history of significant allergic reactions (anaphylaxis)?
- Have you experienced any serious adverse reactions after previous Covid-19 vaccinations?
- Are you or could you be pregnant?
If the answer to any of the above questions is “Yes”, please inform the vaccinator.
You will receive the Moderna Spikevax Covid-19 vaccine. The injection is quick and only takes a moment.
Mild and moderate side effects, which usually pass within a few days, are common after vaccination and are generally harmless. If you develop a mild fever or muscle aches, this is a sign that your immune system is responding.
